U15 West Hove FC v u15 Hove Rivervale
1st round u15 knockout cup

Slight change of personal some boys playing in new positions.

First 5 minutes played and boys structured and looking to get into the game.

First set piece of the day for rivervale and our Achilles at the moment we can’t clear our lines and we go one nil down to a sloppy corner.

Kick off again and within seconds mistake from the back line and we are 2-0 down

Few minutes pass by and boys can’t seem to shake the mistakes out our game and starting to show poor body language deflected it got worse for us another mistake this time from our gk which really topped our first half performance as probably our most consistent and composed lad in the squad yet on this freak morning he makes a poor decision and mistake leads to it 3-0 down.

More defensive errors and before you can blink it’s 5-0 hove rivervale after 30 mins.

A rare good piece of play from us sees a free kick awarded just inside there half.

Joe breakwell lifts the ball over their back line and Thomas pollard meets the ball and slots it in on the front post 5-1 scoreline half time.

Managers team talk
Boys we can work on tactics formation set piece routines etc etc however if you can’t stick up for yourselves on a football pitch this is what happens.
Time to get out there forget that first half and show me your parents and more importantly your opponents that we ain’t some pushovers 0-0 let’s win the second half.

Second half begins and Instantly you could see the fight back in our lads first to every ball growing in confidence 5 mins into second half you could never start to dream we was the team 5-1 down.

Within the next few minutes we get a much deserved second goal and more importantly the lead we asked from the lads in the second half.

That was the pattern for the rest of the second half fighting hard looking much the better side we miss a few half chances and time running out we can’t undo the damage from the first half.

Lesson to learn from this lads is we have to show the fight we did in the second half and now see the importance of being switched on and battling hard against a opponent of this quality.

Luckily enough this was a cup game so gives us the chance to learn from this and being against a div 2 side like ourselves we can put this right and play 2 halves of football next time not 1.

Man of the match
Frankie Whitby Smith was stand out player that drove the team forward second half with some great battling in the middle of the park and huge contribution to the team spirit and performance improving in the second half.

Chins up lads we move on !!

West Hove fc u15s v Peachaven u15s

Set up same formation 4-4-1-1 and started well knocking the ball round and holding possession, a very good 10 minute spell.

First defensive set piece and all that hard work undone to a slight delay in reaction to second ball 1-0 down.

Match continues in much the same fashion us trying to play football the right way from the back and second corner conceded again another sucker punch and well worked corner we go 2-0 down.

How football can be harsh sometimes.

Half time team talk was very much instructed them to continue trying to play football the right way and go more of a man to man on set pieces to try stop any further dead ball damage to our goal.

Second half kicks off and again built into the game having a 5 minute spell of a clearance of the line by a peacehaven player and a outstanding save from there keeper from a back post header to keep there 2 goal cushion.

Suppose you can say just wasn’t meant to be today and just shows how tight the division will be this season very even first half and by far the better side in second half and still come away with a 2-0 defeat onwards and upwards we learn from our dead ball mistakes.

Man of the match
Jamie spiers cracking centre back performance always there to mop up and balls behind and very much like tom last week and solid focal point to our back line.

West Hove fc u15s v Three Bridges u15s

Very tough game on paper for us playing div 1 mid sussex champions last season and constant semi finalist in summer tourneys.

We started very well looking very organised with our new squad of players and new formation 4-4-1-1, all in all the first half was very even with both teams really cancelling each other out conceding only a couple of half chances for both teams, half time score 0-0

Half time teamtalk was basically to try push forward as a unit a bit more to try create better chances in second half.

Second half began and both teams again cancelling each other out to only half chances.
Growing further and further into the game we had a spell of 2 good chances to score which we didn’t take unfortunately.

8 mins to go, a lucky 25 yard deflection off our right back looped over our keeper into the net. With a change of formation, 3-4-3 we kept our heads up and battled to the end with only 2 mins to go we conceded our second to a very well worked corner set piece.

Full time result 2-0 defeat

Man of the match
Thomas Pollard centre back very solid performance not putting a foot wrong and a focal point to our back line.

Ryan goalkeeper some good one handed saves and distribution spot on.

Onwards and upwards for the second game of the season against Peacehaven.
